The children who were confirmed at St. Austin’s Catholic Church

By Joseph Wanzusi

Families are breaking up because spouses lack the spirit of forgiveness, the auxiliary Catholic Bishop of Tororo Archdiocese, the Rt. Rev. Charles Wamika, has said.

He made the remarks on Sunday at St. Austin’s Catholic Church in Mbale town where he confirmed 204 chil- dren into the Christian faith.

He told the congregation that a husband, wife and children should respect one another as a basis for a new life.

Quoting from the Bible that talks about one human body with many parts, each with a distinct function, Wamika said family members are meant to complement each other so as to achieve a common goal and promote harmony in society.

He urged Christians to think positively and participate in development programmes that improve on their household incomes instead of spending their time and resources drinking alcohol.

“You should work hard and make money for your livelihood in order to feed, dress, sleep well and educate your children while God still gives you time to live on this earth,” Wamika said.
