Amudat gold mines provide water source

A Pokot woman fetches water from a dug out well on River Chepkwararat, a seasonal river in Lokales parish in Amudat district. The residents dig out the floor of the river in search of gold. The sand is put in basins of water  and gold is seived out. The open ditches on the river floor remain serving as wells to curtail water shortage in the area. The gold is reportedly sold to Kenya at about sh25,000 per gram
