FOUR solar panels stolen from internally displaced people’s camps in Kitgum district have been recovered by the Police.

The Lira district Police commander, Raymond Otim, said on Friday that the panels were recovered from Edward Katanga in Lira.

He said Katanga, a businessman in Kitgum Taxi Park, together with his colleague only identified as Obii, allegedly stole the panels and went to Lira to sell them.

“We were tipped about the reportedly stolen items. We recovered the panels and arrested the suspects,” Otim said.

He said the suspects would be taken to court over charges of theft.

In a separate operation, the Police also recovered two guns and 30 bullets at Starch Factory ‘B’ village.

Another, gun found in Teopek village, was reportedly used to kill Lusano Otim, a resident over a land dispute. This brings to four the number of guns recovered in the district in a week.

Constable Thomas Acuc was arrested in connection with the murder.

His brother, Martin Ogwang, had earlier been charged and remanded at Lira Prison over the same murder.
