OVER 60 restaurants, malwa (local brew) drinking places and shops in Adjumani town council have been closed due to lack of toilets.
The town clerk, Samuel Lagu, said the measure was taken to stop the spread of cholera that killed at least three people in two sub-counties neighbouring the town council last week.
Lagu said, “We have also banned selling of roasted and boiled maize, preparing and selling pancakes and chapatis with immediate effect, to check the spread of cholera.”
He told a press conference in his office on Thursday that garbage collection in the town had also been enforced.
A medical officer said the disease had left dozens admitted in Ciforo and Adropi sub-counties.
The source, however, said hygiene in the town and affected sub-counties had improved.
