BANK of Uganda (BoU) has donated a sh160m motorised water system to internally displaced persons in Gulu district.
BoU governor emmanuel Tumusiime Mutebile said the water system that is near completion was part of the bank’s 40th anniversary celebrations to be held on August 15.
“The water system in the camp is in support of the stabilisation of the Gulu and Kitgum,†Mutebile said in a speech read by his deputy, David Okello at the handover ceremony of a haemodialysis (artificial kidney) machine to Mulago referral hospital.
The US$25,000 (about sh46m) machine was also part of BoU’s donation to the health sub-sector.
“BoU, under its strategic plan 2003-08, resolved to intensify its corporate social responsibility programme.
“The bank has been extending limited sums from a relatively small general vote to individuals and organisations that present deserving requests,†Mutebile said.
