FORUM for Democratic Change (FDC) presidential candidate Col. Kizza Besigye on Sunday released two doves into the air as he called for peace in the country during a rally in Arua town.

Besigye, who blamed president Yoweri museveni for creating conditions of war, said the country now needed peace and reconciliation.

During the rally at Arua Hill primary school playground, Besigye said though he was headed to oust Museveni from power in next month’s elections, it should not make them enemies.

“Peace in Uganda, peace in Uganda,” Besigye said as he let loose the two passive birds.
There was excitement from the mammoth crowd as one of the birds flew back and settled on his head.

Besigye kept a wide smile through the ritual as Terego Member of Parliament Kassiano Wadri gently lifted the dove from him.
