THE Kira Magistrates’ Court in Wakiso district has forwarded the Police file containing statements of the alleged murder of Christine Dambio to the criminal investigations department (CID) for further scrutiny.

The file, with statements against the accused, Apollo Nyangasi, the national chairman of the Uganda Health and Allied Workers Union, was taken to CID headquarters last month.

Yesterday, Nyangasi, who was Dambio’s husband, appeared in court for the mention of his case before magistrate Richard Nuwagira. But state attorney Harriet Angom informed the court that the file had not yet been returned, and asked for an adjournment.

The magistrate further remanded Nyangasi to Luzira Prison until September 22. As he left court, Nyagasi was confronted by about 10 of his in-laws, who asked him to repent and confess to the crime. It is alleged that Nyangasi, 45, killed his wife on July 24 at Kireka B Zone in Wakiso district.
