THE Police are hunting for a 27-year-old suspected murderer, Umar Mugisha, who escaped from the Rapid Response Unit cells at Kireka.
Mugisha, who hails from Kakiika in Mbarara, was accused of murdering Alex Turyasingura, a businessman in Mbarara, during a robbery at his shop at Kiyanja.
The southwestern region Police spokesperson, Polly Namaye, said Mugisha could be hiding in the western or southwestern regions.
Namanya said Mugisha was found with the gun they suspected  he used in the murder. He is also connected to other terrorist incidents in Mbarara and neighbouring districts of Bushenyi, Ibanda, Ntungamo, Kiruhura and Isingiro.
“Mugisha is a wanted man, he is a suspected murder suspect and he will continue terrorising communities if he is not re-arrested,†Namaye said.
Mugisha’s co accused are his brother, Derrick Nuwamanya and Muhammad Ssebandeke who were found in possession of some of the stolen items belonging to the deceased property of over robbery victims.
