The European Union (EU) has called for ‘thorough transparent investigation’ into the inferno that erased the world’s biggest thatched mausoleum housing the tombs of the dead kings of Buganda in Kasubi.
A press statement issued yesterday by Vincent De Visscher, the Head of Delegation, EU, in Uganda, stated: “(EU) shares with the people of Uganda deep regret for the destruction of the Kasubi royal tombs. This is a tragedy for the people of the Buganda, Uganda and the world, considering the importance of this UNESCO recognised cultural site.â€
The European union is one of the world bodies that have supported the conservation of the royal tombs at Kasubi. The mission statement, also welcomed the Government’s readiness to investigate the inferno and deplore the human deaths in the aftermath.
