UN signs refugee deal
KAMPALA - The representative of the UN High Commissioner of Refugees (UNHCR) to Tanzania, Oluseyi Bajulaiye, and the secretary general of the East African Community (EAC), Ambassador Juma Volter Mwapachu, on Wednesday signed a memorandum of understanding to protect the rights of displaced persons. The memorandum, signed in Dar es Salaam, will also seek to regulate refugee management, according to a statement issued recently.

Judge halts robbery case
KAMPALA - High Court judge Benjamin Kabiito has halted a robbery case against Josephine Kinamba because she disappeared after having been released on bail. “The proceedings in this case are discontinued until the accused is re-arrested,” the judge ruled in Kampala on Thursday.
