THE Police is stuck with two babies aged between eight months and two years who were abandoned by their mothers.
The Police said they are searching for the mothers, one of them identified as Katarina Namboze.
Kampala deputy Police spokesperson Henry Kalulu told The New Vision on Monday that it was clear from the condition of the babies that their mothers had attempted to starve them to death before abandoning them.
“I think when they did not die, the mothers decided to abandon them,†he said.
He added that Namboze abandoned her child identified as Shafiq with Faridha Nansikombwe of Bulenga last week and then vanished.
“We got to know that the baby is called Shafiq from Nansikombwe who told us that is what the mother used to call him,†he said.
The babies are now at the child and family protection unit at Central Police Station, Kampala.
