THE Democratic Party (DP) president, Norbert Mao, will visit Busoga region at the end of this week to unveil his campaign ahead of the 2011 presidential elections.

Mao was in Masaka district last week, where he traversed several counties. He also met DP supporters in Mpigi district.

Addressing journalists at the DP headquarters yesterday, party deputy spokesperson Kenneth Kakande called for the streamlining of the voter register.

“The Electoral Commission (EC) is carrying out registration of voters and at the same time the NRM is registering supporters. This is confusing the masses because some people think they are registering for 2011 elections but end up on NRM lists. They should clarify this irregularity,” he advised.

The EC issued a clarification last week urging voters not to confuse political parties’ member registration with its voter registration.

Kakande denied reports that a section of Baganda DP supporters were blocked from attending Mao’s rally in Masaka.
