LOCAL musician Bebe Cool, alias Moses Ssali, is out of hospital but doctors have advised him to take six weeks to recuperate.
“His recovery will depend on how he does his physiotherapy and if the affected parts do not develop any infections,” Dr. Martin Nsubuga, the Nsambya Hospital medical superintendent, said on phone yesterday.
Physiotherapy refers to exercises aimed at strengthening muscles and ensuring good joint movement.
Nsubuga said Bebe Cool would be confined to a wheelchair and crutches for the next two weeks.
“The crutches and wheelchair will enable him to move without exerting pressure on the healing parts,” he added.
Several politicians, including President Yoweri Museveni and his deputy, Prof. Gilbert Bukenya, are among friends and relatives that visited Bebe Cool during the one-week stay in hospital.
Laying on a mattress in his living room at Ntinda yesterday, the artist concurred with the medical experts, saying he needed time to heal.
“All the shows have been cancelled because the affected parts are those that support my body as I entertain my fans,” he told The New Vision, adding that he would demand compensation from the Government.
Bebe Cool, a son to veteran politician Jaberi Bidandi Sali, David Oloka, a policeman, Abbas Kobobyo and Alan Masengere were recently shot near Oasis Mall, a shopping and entertainment centre in Kampala.
Bebe Cool and his entourage had just left Effendy’s, another entertainment centre at the Centenary Park, where they reportedly had a “misunderstanding” with other artistes.
Kobobyo and Oloka are still in hospital. Bebe Cool visited Oloka at Mulago Hospital before going to Ntinda.
Investigations into the shooting are ongoing.
