THE Police in Masaka have arrested a businessman for allegedly stubbing his wife to death.
The district crime chief, Patrick Bamanyindo, said Francis Kasekende, a resident of Mukudde zone in Nyendo Sennyange division, was the key suspect in the murder of Phoebe.
“We suspect they first fought from their bedroom and when the woman died, he drugged her body to the kitchen,†Bamanyindo said.
The couple’s bed had blood stains, he added.
“We have recovered a pair of trousers with blood stains that was dumped in the bedroom. I suspect that the murderer removed the trousers and wore others,†Bamanyindo said.
He dismissed claims by Kasekende that he and Phoebe were attacked by unidentified persons.
“The doors to the house were intact,†Bamanyindo remarked.
He explained that Kasekende had a deep cut around his neck, indicating that his wife tried to defend herself during the scuffle.
Kasekende’s sister, Juliet Jjumba, said her brother has been sick for sometime and was weak, adding that he was under the care of Phoebe.
She quoted Kasekende as saying they were attacked by three people whom she suspects could have owed him money.
