THE Church of Uganda has elected two new bishops to take over Ankole and Kinkizi dioceses in Western Uganda.

The House of Bishops of the Church of Uganda on Saturday met in Gulu and elected Rev. Dr. Sheldon Mwesigwa as the new Bishop of Ankole Diocese.

Rev. Canon Bernard Bagaba was elected as the new Bishop of Kinkiizi Diocese.

His consecration will take place in Kanungu on May 9, 2010. He will succeed the Rt. Rev. John Ntegyereize.

The consecration of Rev. Dr. Mwesigwa, the Dean of the Faculty of Education at Uganda Christian University, Mukono, will be at St. James Cathedral in Mbarara on July 18, 2010.

He will succeed the Rt. Rev. Dr. George Tibeesgiwa as Bishop of Ankole.
