THE Government is committed to the campaign against landmines, relief and disaster preparedness minister Prof. Tarsis Kabwegyere has said.

“The Government will do everything possible to be party to the global campaign against landmines and to ensure that internally, we are free of landmines,” Kabwegyere said.

He was recently launching the Landmine Monitor Report 2009, in Kampala.

According to the report, Uganda is yet to ratify the Convention on Cluster Munitions signed in December 2008, something that questions the government’s commitment.
