Americans to lobby against LRA

  • About 2,000 Americans are expected to converge at the US Capitol tomorrow to urge their government to pass a law against the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) rebel group, write Milton Olupot and Agencies.

    The move is focused on ending violence against civilians by the rebels led by Joseph Kony.

    The move is part of a two-day event aimed at pressuring President Barack Obama to address the regional conflict.

    A statement issued in Washington D.C. on Friday by Resolve Uganda,

    a pressure group, said the event, dubbed “How It Ends,” is the biggest lobby in the US history focusing on an African issue.
    Preceeding the lobby, will be a symposium held at the Washington Convention Center that will feature a keynote address from Luis Moreno-Ocampo, the International Criminal Court lead prosecutor.
