I’m not fighting Kayanja, says Pastor Kyazze

PASTOR Michael Kyazze of Omega Healing Centre has denied accusations that he was involved in the kidnap of a personal aide to Pastor Robert Kayanja of the Rubaga Miracle Centre.

He also dismissed as ‘baseless’ allegations that he was behind a ploy to discredit Kayanja.

“I have never been engaged in as nefarious and criminal an act as kidnapping,” Kyazze said in a letter to The New Vision yesterday.

“My struggle has been and will continue to be the fight for the increasing number of victims of sodomy in our society. If it has been interpreted as an effort to discredit pastor Kayanja, then it is both unfortunate and a dangerous insinuation.”

Kayanja’s aide, Chris Muwonge, on Sunday narrated to journalists how he had been abducted at gunpoint and held for five days.

He said his kidnappers tried to force him into recording a statement implicating his boss in homosexual activities but he refused.

At Sunday’s press conference, Kayanja accused his rival, Pastor Kyazze, of trying to destroy his reputation. He said his security men had earlier arrested Kyazze’s aide, Pastor Richard Kayiira, who was trying to sneak a laptop into the Miracle Centre, presumably to download evidence.

“After being interrogated by the Police for over six hours, it was revealed that he had been sent by his boss to get information about a room in my church where they allege I sexually harass young boys,” Kayanja said.

Police spokesperson Judith Nabakooba said the CID was investigating the alleged kidnap.
