FORUM for Democratic Change (FDC) presidential candidate Dr. Kizza Besigye has said he is surprised that the co-coordinator of security services, Lt. Gen. David Tinyefuza, supports the government.

Besigye said Tinyefuza is like a lost sheep in the NRM which does not know where it belongs. He asked Tinyefuza to join the FDC to bring change in the country.

“I am surprised to see my friend Tinyefuza praising the same government he took to court. Why did he change his mind and rejoin the government? My advice to him is to join me in FDC and build Uganda together,” he told a rally at Boma Grounds, Fort portal Municipality on Monday.

Besigye also addressed mini-rallies in Kyengegwa, Katooke trading centre and Kyenjojo town.

In Fort Portal, Besigye was driven around the town in a convoy of boda-boda cyclists which accompanied him to the party offices on Kaboyo road. At Boma grounds, he was received by the district party chairperson, Johnson Musana. He was later given a Kanzu (tunic) and a bark cloth.

Besigye was also given a pet name, Amooti which in the Toro culture means respect.

Besigye, who referred to Tinyefuza as a good friend and a strong fighter, said it was Tinyefuza who first told him that the Movement government was undemocratic and that he was frustrated about its top leadership.

Recently Besigye said Tinyefuza should be court-martialed for making political statements against the judiciary.

There was excitement when 690 NRM supporters defected to FDC. Besigye criticised President Yoweri museveni for neglecting Toro region.
