A former rebel of the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) has told the High Court that he commanded the group that killed Pabbo sub-county LC3 movement chief in 2002.
Lt. David Ochira, 24, who has since been integrated into the UPDF, was testifying yesterday in a murder case against two MPs facing the offence of killing Alfred Bongomin.
Ochira told the trial judge, John Bosco Katutsi, that when he was still a rebel, he received orders from his commander Kwoyero, who was with James Opoka, ordering him to kill Bongomin alias Alpeo and another Movement chief Ojera.
The witness said his commanders told him that they wanted to kill the Movement officials because they were persuading the people of Pabbo to support the Government and the UPDF, which the LRA was fighting to overturn.
The MPs are, Ronald Reagan Okumu (Aswa) and Michael Nyeko Ocula (Kilak). The other co-accused men are, Stephen Otim, Ochan Laryang and David Ocieng.
Ochira said he was given a group of 10 other rebels to go with to Pabbo. He said the group went to Pabbo camp, where the homes of Bongomin and Ojera were, at around 10:00pm.
Ochira said as he remained outside giving commands to other rebels, three of them entered Bongomin’s house.
He said after 30 minutes, one of the men who entered Bongomin’s house came out only to inform them that the mission had been accomplished.
