PRESIDENT Yoweri Museveni has welcomed former rebels of the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) from the bush.

Museveni, who met the Salat Foundation delegation at Hotel Brovad in Masaka on Sunday, praised the former rebels for denouncing rebellion.

A statement from State House yesterday said Museveni said the Government declared Amnesty because some people who denounced banditry did not know what to do.

Museveni donated 200 iron sheets and 150 bags of cement to the foundation to their income-generating projects, which he said were making progress.

He urged them to start a savings and credit scheme to access affordable credit. He said the Government had established the Islamic University and other projects for Ugandans. The chairman of the education committee of the Salat Foundation, Hamza Kabugu, assured the President of their full support.
