PRESIDENT Yoweri Museveni has nominated Makerere University lecturer Prof. Foster Byarugaba to head a commission of inquiry into the proposed creation of a district from Tororo county in Tororo district.
Other members of the commission are Pader Woman MP Santa Okot and former minister Henry Kyemba. David Mafabi will be the commission’s secretary while Zam Zam Nagujja is the counsel.
a statement signed by the President’s press secretary, Onapito ekomoloit, said the commission was sworn in on Tuesday by Museveni.
Museveni established the commission on March 16, to ascertain the tribes that dominate Tororo county, before considering giving it a district status.
The Iteso and Jopadhola publicly disagreed before the President on his visit to the area last month, over who dominated the area.
The Jopadhola are opposed to the creation of a district, claiming that they are the indigenous residents of the area.
