ANOTHER UPDF officer has been killed at a bar in Zana, south of Kampala just 12 days after the grisly murder of the former army commander, Maj. Gen. James Kazini.
In the weekend incident, the soldier was clobbered to death with beer bottles.
Army spokesman Lt. Col. Felix Kulayigye said WO II, Gregory Turyakira was killed at Zana on Saturday night after a fierce argument.
“The owner of the bar told us the deceased was arguing with some people at the bar. When they disagreed, the other people hit the officer with bottles,” Kulayigye said yesterday.
The incident comes just days after President Yoweri Museveni, during the funeral service of Maj. Gen. James Kazini, warned officers to guard against reckless lifestyles.
The Police said the soldier could have been killed inside the bar and the body dragged into the yard. Inside the bar, blood stains covered chairs, the door and walls.
The Police have arrested the bar owner, Irene Tumuhise and her neighbours Annet Bogilisa, Shamim Namuddu and Geoffrey Kigozi.
The wife, Dr. Grace Najjuka, said her husband would be buried in Kabale district.
