AMERICA’s Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) is probing allegations that Pastor Jackson Senyonga of Christian Life Ministries in Kampala molested a 13-year-old girl on a flight last Saturday, the Associated press has reported.
The Associated Press is an international news agency based in the US.
Senyonga was accused of fondling the girl, who was seated next to him during the flight from Denver to Oakland.
When the flight landed, he was arrested by Oakland authorities, then he was questioned and released on bail.
However, Saturday Vision has seen a notice from the Alameda County District Attorney’s office telling Senyonga that they had reviewed the police report and decided not to initiate prosecution at the time.
“Accordingly, it will not be necessary for you to appear in court on this matter, and we have so advised the Court,” says the notice.
According to Fort Mille Times, a local newspaper in the US, Alameda prosecutors referred the case to the FBI because of jurisdiction issues.
Senyonga is also the proprietor and managing director of Top radio and TV as well as Rhino Radio in Lira.
Top Radio received on 89.6FM in Kampala is also received in Masaka on 96.2, Mbale on 104.9, Masindi on 94.5 and Mbarara on 91.8.
He recently launched into the expansion of his ministry from Uganda to the United States and frequently travels there.
He is internationally reknown as a poverty-relief advocate. In October 2005, Senyonga held a press conference at his Bwaise church to announce that his ministry would build 500 housing units for orphaned children in Lira, Gulu and Mukono districts.
Pastor Senyonga is the key organiser behind the annual National Celebration and End-of-Year Miracle Prayers held every New Year’s night. The prayers always attract thousands of christians from all over the country, who pray throug December 31.
