BUSINESS DEAL: Yossi Brook and Museveni at Kisozi ranch yesterday

By Vision reporter

PRESIDENT Yoweri Museveni has met US investors led by Yossi Brook of Beth Dincrown Heights of New York.
The meeting took place at his Kisozi ranch in Mpigi district yesterday.

Members of the delegation included Eli Popak, the managing director of Mapcash and Ari Zoldan of Launch 3. Their visit was a follow-up of Museveni’s invitation to American investors during his last visit to New York, State House said in a statement.

The delegation expressed interest in investing in communications services, the beef industry and electric supervision and protection of micro-finance funds.

Museveni welcomed the investors to Uganda and told them to also explore chances in phosphate, iron-ore, copper and cobalt mining.

The meeting was attended by the Minister of Information and Communications Technology, Dr. Ham Mulira, that of State for Investment, Prof. Semakula Kiwanuka and Uganda’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Francis Butagira.

Meanwhile, Museveni also met a Nairobi-based investor and Sameer Group chief, Merali Naushad, on Wednesday at Kisozi ranch.

Merali, who owns a string of investments in Nairobi, was accompanied by his partner, Ravi Jaipuria, India-based Varuri Beverages chief.

Museveni and his guests discussed the progress of the milk processing project to be set up in Uganda.

Merali informed Museveni that all was set for the factory to be built in Mbarara. He said the US$10m plant would, on completion, employ more than 5,000 Ugandans and process milk into powder.
The investor also told Museveni that another plant for processing fruit juice and portable water would be set up in Masaka.

The Minister of State for Investment, Prof. Semakula Kiwanuka and the Honorary Consul of Thailand in Uganda, James Mulwana, attended the meeting.
