| Kayunga clashes hosted by Administrator |
| Police are battling angry youths in Kayunga district over the proposed visit of the Kabaka. The Banyala, a minority group, oppose the visit saying the Kabaka should get permission from their leader. Kabaka's supporters insist he is entitled to visit any part of his Kingdom. How should the standoff be solved? |

| HISTORY JUST CAUGHT UP WITH BUGANDA authored by jumbwike sam on 27. January 2010 at 09:00 |
| take a snap shot at all the vast nations and kingdoms that only expanded through conquest and how the conquered small states liberated themselves after sometime.Buganda just annexed her neighbouring weaker communities and now that they are advocating for their independence,we should all be fare and do the needful. It was unfair in the first place for Baganda of the old to misuse their strength to rob their neighbours and it will be more unfair if the Baganda of today deny the Banyala and Baruli their constitutional right. |
| where is the sabanyara now? authored by cathy mary on 18. December 2009 at 12:34 |
| Does sabanyara really exists?!!!! he appeared once and now he is no where to be seen. The guy caused havoc and disappeared. There was no reason to stop the kabaka from going to kayunga. If a man has to ask permission to enter the house he built then thats being unrealistic. We want our CBS back. It had interesting proggrames like kalisoliso. |

The whole big issue was around banyara/Bunyara separating themselves from Baganda/Buganda; to me this was a politicaly driven move. This has definently created much more "silent" friction between the two "kingdoms" than that between Mengo and the Government thats why the government probably decided to stop Kabaka from going to kayunga, this was in an attempt to protect him.. as the government says.
One step to avoiding the sep 10, 11 to 13 incident will be the Kabaka and Mengo understanding the fact that Bunyara and Banyara are gone, no longer part of his kingdom. it hurts but its true, this was a politicaly driven move.
The other thing is that Baganda and Buganda should bring their issues to the government as ugandans, they should stop being selfish. This justifies the way the government handled them with an iron hand during the september incident. Why do you decide to still people's property... You need to be more organised. |

| INTELLECTUAL ADVICE TO THE PRESIDENT. authored by SAM NASASIRA on 12. November 2009 at 14:23 |
Your excellency, i would like to let you know that Jesus was killed by his own people who were created by his father. so its of no surprise to see the so called baganda rebeling against a government which got them from a foreign land where they went without even seeing behind. just imagine if some one saved you from being eaten by beasts and instead you turn against the savior and you become a beast yourself, its crazy.however, the only biggest enemy of man that makes him weak, is "FEAR". i don't know any fear in your biography, why do you want to spoil it.
Baganda have never loved any president for 7years when he is in power, even if you looked into the history of Uganda, you can tell yourself right from lule to you. And what you have to seriously know is that whoever feared them, whoever bowed before them, became their VICTIM of slaughter, insult, disrespect and pressure.am atypical farmer but what you teach a cow is what exactly it does.so think deep.
We love buganda, baganda, unity, peace, and harmony but not sectarianism .
Thanks to the readers of my articles, and all citizens at large.

| Jude, Iam never tired of you. authored by beddy on 7. October 2009 at 10:12 |
Please, Jude, understand me right. I am never tired of you and your unprecedented discussions which, ofcourse, are not immune to positive criticism. This is how we get civilised and develope. I do not know when you were born but if you happened to witness Amin and Obote regimes, then you would understand what the big difference is currently - actually it would be, upto now, fire all-over Buganda. Fine, where is Nagginda?!!. What is hapenning?. Not a word from her. This is incredible. Is something going-on inside the kingdom family?. Most likely disagreements on the way matters are being handled. By the way, I very much respect her as she is a very learned and highly professional person in our kingdom. Her contributions would really give Buganda sanctity in solving the present saga.
Secondly, I have never voted for any current political parties- Iam non-partisan, yet. I just need to capture objectivity in reasoning-out things. President Museveni, Kabaka Mutebi, any political party leaders, etc have never told us that they do not make mistakes. The best way-out is to iron-out differences amicably and in a civilised manner acceptable to all parties. "Live and let live" i.e co-existance of kingdoms and political parties, presidents and kings. Jude, get more exposed to the world than Buganda and Uganda only. This shall make you appreciate and love your country better, without harbouring illusions in one direction. President Mubarak has ruled for how long, not to mention Gadafi ?. Federo means turning Buganda into a federal state like in Nigeria, where the king may become a mere Governor, according to Constitution amendments, if to become. Then we shall have Donor and Receipient states, depending on resources available in each state- mind you Bunyoro, etc now have oil and gas !!. Do not say Buganda and Bunyoro shall negotiate when the revenues come-by. The stories shall be different. That is why we need a Central government. Astrong economy in any country or kingdom is the key to development and prosperity e.g UAE, Bahrain, Qatar, Equatorial Guinea, etc.
Thank you king Mutebi for atlast meeting the President. That makes a big difference in our cultural and political values. But bring-out Nagginda for a consoling word to Buganda and Uganda. |
| VP Bukenya lecture on Buganda tolerence makes no sense authored by John M. Ishengoma on 5. October 2009 at 03:05 |
Buganda cannot live in isolation - VP
Sunday, 4th October, 2009 E-mail article Print article
By Moses Mulondo
THE Vice President Gilbert Bukenya has told the Baganda agitating for federo that the kingdom cannot live in isolation.
In a message posted on his website, the Vice President said although he is a strong supporter of the Kabaka and the Buganda kingdom, he is also a strong supporter of the Democratic Republic of Uganda.
“Whatever we aspire to achieve must be supported by other Ugandans. We cannot work in isolation. Friends, alone we can do so little but together we can do so much,” Bukenya wrote.
“Why can’t we live in harmony, love each other, respect each other and stop abusive language and the feeling that you are the only one.”
He appealed to the Baganda to not only focus on their interests but also show concern and respect for the interests of other Ugandans.
“We, the Baganda must know that we live in Uganda with other people of the same rights. When we demand, they also have a right to demand.
“When we destroy their properties, they also have a right to do so. Let us stop inciting hatred and confrontation. The innocent suffer and even die,” he said.
A total of 27 people died in the riots last month by Kabaka supporters who protested the Government’s objection to the king’s visit to Kayunga citing security reasons. He warned his fellow Baganda against the quest for political power for the Kabaka.
“We have to leave political power to the elected leaders of Uganda and cultural power to the kings and other cultural leaders.”
VP Bukenya, go to hell with your stupid lecture. You must have better things to do than lectureto us about co-existing with all Ugandans. We're already champions of that. Are you the only one who doesn't know that more non Baganda live happily in Buganda than Baganda live in other parts of Buganda? |
| Museveni Kabaka Meeting authored by Jude on 2. October 2009 at 14:09 |
Dear all,
I am happy that the two leaders’ finally met. Their meeting was necessary in the short run to cool down the tempers that had gone high on both sides.
However, that meeting should not be gazed as a solution to our problem. Each leader is responsible for his weaknesses. Mr Obote wanted to force a republic and created a nation by force, Mr Museveni think that he could turn a national issue into a personal project.
The issues disturbing Baganda are national in nature and entail a national discussion not a one man discussion or else it will be undone as soon as he leaves power. At this stage, Mr Museveni may grant anything to Buganda but won’t it be questioned in future by our colleagues in other parts of the country?
If the issue is about governance, don’t other parts of Uganda have similar interests? I hope this meeting isjust a gate way to addressing a big national problem.
Finally in a bid for govt to control sentiments and public incitement, the govt has ended up trumping on our existence rights. A case in point is the recent purported directive from Mr Mutabazi to Beat fm to stop airing anything that seems to be promoting Buganda including songs that relate to Buganda culture. If this issue is true, we are likely to sue govt for that. If we want to calm down our people, we must show them that we respect their culture and would want to live with them in harmony.
If this kind of approach goes on, we shall have no alternative but to tell our people to fight for their survival or else we may get extinct. Soon we shall hear that no using Kiganda name, no clans, no Kwabya Lumbe, no clan meetings etc
