| somalia war!22 of natural diseases authored by rogers a. mpenduwachi on 1. October 2009 at 16:53 |
"A total of 45 Ugandan soldiers have died since the AU operation started in March 2007. Of those, 22 died at the hands of the insurgents, 22 of natural diseases and one committed suicide. "
am really disturbed to know that our dear loved armed forces have lost 22 combatantas to natural diseases and no one seems to ask questions about how you would lose 22 young men and women of the national army, it does not ring bells at the highest offices of government, one should ask, is there any wars going on in the Somalia or for that matter classified missions that are not being addressed, having personally trained as a solider of my now adopted country, soliders go through alot of training during there life time as combatants, therefore they must be fit for purpose, to me it would seem the only deaths that are not accounted for on the battlefield are those later addressed as soliders lost to natural diseases, thus to remained our selves, is this the case?, if so, then we must address a few issues to do with whether these soliders taken to the battlefield are well trained to do there job, rememeber, the USA, lost 18 soliders and called it a day, may be the issues faced by the, then US army need to be re-addressed,loosing 45 soliders before the attacking has began, is pretty bad record as at the time your still defencive, these issues will have to be addressed before we can think of going offencive:
-the lose of 22 soliders to natural diseases,45 soliders in 2years is a bad record if your not on the attack yet!
-whether the boys and girls are fit and well trained.
-the overall benefit to Uganda as a country, and if so how?
-are the families of the fallen combatants, well looked after?
-are the funds available and how long can that war be contained? and with draw strategy.
and as a business accumen thats where i bring in my SWOT and TOW for analysis of the total war
lastly what can we learn from the wars in iraq! |

| Uganda is part of the African Union, and so she is required to help any other conflicting African country where possible, in thes case the army of Uganda is peace keeping. I think the Army should stay in Somalia and assit stablize the country. What use it for the Army to sit back home doing nothing when other sister African countries need help? |

| alive, or wounded or dead they still count very very much authored by bernard on 25. October 2007 at 03:52 |
why hide the identity of our soldiers in somalia if in case they are wounded or dead? its very important for the country or their families to know of how they or each one of them individually are doing over there. It sounds like 'it is not your business.' If you hide, does it mean that they to achieve some selfish ends of a few people? If they are there in the name of the country then i think we have the right to know whatever happens to them.
They are still part of us and very dear to us please. Let them know that we care for them and not only a few who might want to achieve their selfish motives through them.
And let them know that they still count whether they are wounded or will have to die.
Hope you do understand what i mean. I was not happy to note that identity of some three or so could not be revealed and i so wonder as to what this might have meant to all concerned Ugandans. |
| Uganda should do its best internally rather than internationally. authored by Naam Gum on 20. September 2007 at 08:17 |
I'm concern with M7 help to Somalis while he has failed to solved the problem in Nothern Uganda where people have been suffering 4 centuries. Mr president must take tough measures against Joseph Kony rather than making himself good leader to the media but not to his people and country let Museveni not forget the say that charity begins at home we Ugandans citizen are watching how would your life be after stepping down as Ugandan ruler but not leader.
I'm assuring u Mr president that history has the beginning and its ending your regime would ceased soon and i wonder how your recognition would look like among African leaders; may be Amin, Obete, Charles Taylor among others please help Ugandan first than latter Somalis.

I believe Gerald Businge best summarizes the Somali situation with this well researched article at ugpulse.com:

I couldnt support an idea of UPDF pulling out.The point is when your neighbour is in a problem he needs an arm of support.UPDF have done their best and should complete the lap till peace prevails in Somalia. However, my complain is about their delayed remuneration. Those concerned should really know that '' the few soldiers we sent there are taking agreat risk and therefore shouldnt be any reason to delay their payments''.

| uganda should also pull out authored by OYITE OJOK DAVID on 22. June 2007 at 18:44 |
Reason why i personally said that uganda sh'd pull is becoz :
other countries have refused to send their troops there why?
secondly there is no good payment our troops are getting , so why should they remaid ? I understant that if you work you should be paid .Those soldier do not eat stones they need to be paid since their lifes are on risk |

I give credit where it is due, its true the President has done many wonders. I greatly appreciate, however, when I see some things not going well, I cannot keep quiet. He may think what he's doing is right, but to me I may not agree though I can't do anything about it.
these are facts I've been getting from various newspapers and radio stations. e.g. about funding the Somalia mission, the US announced it when Ugandan troops were being trained. US commited itself to supporting the African Union through monetory & logistical provisions, so its no secret. that was after Ugandan gov't admitted it does not have the logisitical capacity to support the peacekeeping mission. and just yesterday, UK also provided 4.5 billion shs towards the same mission (Sunday Vision 17th June '07, pg 1). in the same article, Burundi govt mentions support from US to enable its troops go to Somalia. If you take the time to check out these articles, you'll know that I'm not creating stories.
