Are you guys really serious? There is no need to ask a question like that because it should be clear in the constitution that there should be elections. For there to be a question about the posibility of postponing an election for no serious reason is to clearly show that there is an abrogation of the constitution in the making. It makes me think that there are deliberate efforts being made to delay the elections.

For whatever reasons, i think there should be elections scheduled as the constitution provides.I think instead of discussing whether or not the constitution should be amended at this particular time, i think we should be thinking of developing new methods of improving the system of governance in the country. What should be discussed right now is how to forge ahead with all our political differences.

Please MPs we sent you into parliament to protect the constitution and to ensure that it is made stronger.I hope that we shall not be dissapointed in you and that you shall fully implement it to the dot other wise you shall not be worthy to return to parliament the next time round.

To all my fellow ugandans let us not allow any force that is trying to weaken our constituion to prevail.I am sure that this is the first duty of the sitting president and i hope that he shall continue to uphold it and defend it himself. There is no need to even hold a referendum for elections.Let us try to implement what we have right now and then we can concentrate on any amendments later next year after the elections. To do so now is to miallocate the already meagre resources that we have for the exercise.I hope that we shall love the motherland and respect the constitution.

Postponing elections implicates a violation of the constituion as well as the rights of the noble Ugandans. I wonder why even this should be discussed

Postponing the 2006 elections is the most unjust thing that can be rendered to Ugandans. I believe Ugandans are now maturing and they know where they are coming from and where they are going. The Constitution is very clear. Let us give it a chance.

If it's postponed, it would show that the government is incompetente and it can not handle major issues that concern the whole country.

Rwanyarare said they would hold a national delegates’ conference to elect new leaders later in the year.

He warned that UPC would use violence to resist any forces that would try to block their campaigns.

I DON'T FIND IT NECESSARY TO POSTPONE THE 2006 ELECTIONS BECAUSE THEN WE WILL HAVE GIVEN THE GOV'T MORE ROOM TO EMBORSE MONEY OR ELECTIONS INSTEAD OF USING MONEY IN DIFFERENT PRESSING AREAS.

ELECTIONS SHD GO ON authored by Marato on 17. March 2005 at 12:41
Why postpone? Ugandan are yearning to vote for the the leaders they want and believe M7 will triumph more than ever before because he is becoming more and more popular. The money is there and the will to vote too. Temupapa

ELECTION SHOULD GO ON authored by IGAMA TABAN MAWA on 28. February 2005 at 03:42
We ugandans in diaspora are tired of hearing the so call kisanja, we all know well that the current government is trying to confused the enterely population of uganda to accept that but the government needs to understand how important the people of the country are and the constituation as well because sticking on one topic makes our land looks fool and the disunity the whole world is trying to hear always.

The issue of the 2006 election should go ahead regardless of any thing although the government is refusing to open up political; space for the opponent, and the opponent needs to come together such that they can defeat the government if not then they will continue intimidating our own peolpe for the sake of corruption and their well being.
